How to Make it in America, 106

Thoughts on the Show:

I threw some of my initial thoughts of the show on CR, based off the 1st episode.  Some of my initial thoughts haven’t change too much, but a few like Eddie Kaye Thomas’s character drastically has, I thought he came off as a douche in 1st episode, but seriously this guy is such a likable fellow he can never get casted in a jerk role.  He is the type that will always come off funny even if he tries to slam people with some sarcastic insults.  I really think the show is finally making its ground and getting some traction with the storyline, but still to this day Luis Guzmán is holding most of the weight on this show with his street hustler persona.  Comparable to Entourage with some facets, like the never ending casting of hot female extras, but in other facets the show tends to feel considerably drawn out versus Entourage that seems to end incredible too fast.  (+ I can’t forget to mention my love for the snapshot party stills they splice in between footage. )

Thoughts on this Episode:

Its all about Julie… She is the latest addition to the series and now Ben’s Love interest, she is great.  Other than that you have more development in Rene’s character, where he is trying to push through more righteously with his business decisions & hustle.  In this episode is the first time we see him having depend on someone else financially plus having to risk his business Rasta Masta to cover it’s expansion.  Its always good to see Kappo spending some money for everyone to have fun, and I am liking this karaoke idea at the parties. And the awkwardness in Kappo’s interaction with Domingo was priceless (Cudi take some acting classes, that scene was written with perfection and you failed). After that I am sort of neutral on Ben getting fire, it just was a requirement in the storyline to get stuff along the way, but at least he will be able to collect off some unemployment, cha ching, lol.  And final thoughts, I am mad tired of Rachel and Darren’s storyline, I understand the point of Rachel’s character in building more depth into Ben’s depressing character, but after that I don’t want to dig any digger with her character and her interaction with her new man.

Some Music off this Episode:

Hall & Oates – Maneater

Bag Raiders – Shooting Stars
